What's New at Your Library
Family Movie Night @ the Library
Each Thursday during the summer reading program we will be having a movie night at the library. Each movie will start at
6:00 P.M. and they are:
July 2: The Lion King
July 9: Camp Rock
July 16: Evan Almighty
July 23: The Tale of Despereaux
July 30: Ella Enchanted

The Summer Reading Program is just around the corner check out the Teens and Children's pages for all the upcoming events!
Library Closers
We will be closed on Saturday May 23rd and Monday May 25th in honor of Memorial Day.
Summer Hours
Starting Saturday May 30th the library will be on our summer hours. This means that we will be open from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M
Attention Knitters!!
"Chicks with Stixs" is a new knitting circle that will meet each Wednesday at the library from 6:30 - 8:00 P.M. beginning April 29th. If you already know how to knit, feel free to bring your existing project to work on or start a new one. Beginners are welcome and need to bring a set of #7 knitting needles and a skein of 4 ply ww yarn- cotton yarn if you wish to made a basic dishcloth or acrylic to make a coffee hugger. Patterns, instructions, and one-on-one help will be available. Light solid colors of yarn are best for learning. Email chicks_with_stixs@yahoo.com or call the library at 647-6981 to register or for additional information.
Come to the library and ask a staff member to show you how to search an article online from the Portland Review and Observer from 1971-2007. You no longer have to search through rolls of microfilm to find your article; now you can enter the person, event, or subject you wish to research and the article will come up quickly.
As of April 1st you can watch movies, how to videos, travel, food, health, kids, literature, documentary, and community videos on your laptop, mp3 player, ect. Requirements:

(Michigan elibrary) link below. You will be able to search for and request materials from a growing list of participating Michigan libraries. Your item will arrive at our library usually in about 1-2 weeks for you to pick up. When you are finished, simply return the item to the Portland District Library. There is no fee for this service.
